The Chakmas Autonomous District Council came into existence on 29th April, 1972 under the sixth schedule of the Constitution of India. It is an Autonomous Council for the ethnic Chakma people. It is the only land for the Chakmas to have an Autonomous Powers such as Executive, Legislative and Judiciary for its own people. It has 24 Members of District Council out of which 4 are nominated and has 27 departments . The headquarters of CADC is Kamalanagar where all the government offices were set up. Everybody have to go there for their Official purposes. It is bounded by two rivers know as “Tuichawng” and “Tehgah”. It has a population of more than 70 thousands and shares International Boundaries with Myanmar in the south and Bangladesh in the west The CADC is a beautiful and peaceful place for all the Chakmas comparing with other Chakma inhabiting areas wherever we are living irrespective of our geographical differences. Whenever I go to my home town it really sadden and always dejected me regarding the way of life that we are leading. Sometimes it makes me go into deeper that if patriotic and ethical leaders are there then the conditions of CADC will not be in miserable conditions as we have been seeing since the last 15 years and everything will be develops democratically and in peaceful conditions. Once Buddha said “if a leader is virtuous he or she will serves his peoples with great love and compassion but not in unethical manner or gives tribulations either physically or mentally. So from religious perspectives if we take into the consideration of our political leaders no one is virtuous or even patriotic though they go to temple and burn candles and offers dhana to the monks. Now I can even comprehend myself that “an educated person or leader is not considered as educated or civilised unless he or she is educated in religious teachings.” So, from this statement we can understand that the political leaders of CADC are educated in academic teaching but not in religious teaching because if they are educated in both the teaching then the situation of our CADC will not be what we are seeing today. Rather they would have brought development in their motherland and utilise its developmental money in a judicious and proper ways than corrupting the money and keep it inside their thin boxes and in their bank accounts.
It really depress me and I even incline to set tears whenever I contemplates about the pathetic or miserable conditions of the people of CADC that we are facing since before due to unethical ways of administration. All these obstacles has been taking place only due to lack of good education and moral education. Because wherever we are living irrespective of our geographical differences it really comes to our mind that our leaders who are holding different positions are neither highly educated nor from the wealthy to do families due to which they are misleading the government, oppressing the people and corruption has been taking place . The one who will introspect only he or she will know what he or she wants to contributes towards the society and don’t even like to have his or her meals and fast himself or herself till others can have the feelings of oneness among themselves but there is nothing one can do since people keeps on doing it in their own way without having mercy for others.
We the Chakmas are getting great tribulations from the local community wherever we are living because there is no unification and harmony among us as a result of which everyone are enduring the same fate everywhere because of particular individual . In other words, means we are oppressed by the oppressors because of our disunity and single mindedness. Besides this, one more instance is that if one ethical leader is trying to contributes something for the welfare of the society and bring developments then some uncivilised, uneducated, and unethical leaders will starts excruciating or inciting him or her either mentally or physically. It’s really bashful for all the Chakmas especially who are studying or living in different parts of the country to introduce themselves as they are belong to CADC. It not only reminds us about the uneducated, uncivilised leaders but also about the poor conditions of roads, and basic amenities and maladministration of the government as well. Even after 45 years of came into being still the condition of CADC is like a forests comparing with others councils and states as well . Are the Political Leaders of CADC not educated enough or qualified enough to bring developments in their motherland? or they need to be admitted in Prestigious Universities like Delhi University, JNU, BHU, Calcutta University etc where they can earn knowledge and contribute it towards the society. Do they have not seen a huge amount of money during their times that they are corrupting now in spite of bringing developments?. Do they have mercy for the public?. Do they have code of ethics for them?. If yes… why do they not follow?. Do they not get humiliations when they meet different intellectual from other states? They are not only misleading the government but also bringing defamatory statements for the Chakmas, destroying the CADC by corrupting, and also highlighting their barbaric attitudes to the younger generation?. Who also do the same when their times come.
I, therefore, request to all my educated friends to kindly wake up from their long slumber and keep an eye on the unethical political leaders and resist them against the evils and contribute something for our peaceful community by changing our attitude towards the poor and developing the feelings of intimate relationships as well.
