Pahari Awami League activists and leaders resigns over burning effigy of Santu Larma by Awami League in Baghaichari

DHAKA, DEC 15: Around half a dozen leaders and activists of Awami League of Baghaichari upazila of Rangamati district have resigned over burning effigy of Santu Larma. The Awami League leaders and activists of Baghaichari Union and Sarowatali Union have submitted their resignation letter to their President and General Secretary today. Awami League has accepted their resignation and informed to the media person.

Vice president of Baghaichari Union Jubo League, Samiran Chakma has already submitted his resignation letter to its president Md. Badiul Alam on 12 December. In his resignation letter, Mr. Chakma said that “I have been working as a Vice-President of Baghaichhari Union Juba League for a long time.”

Because of the peace accord yet not implemented properly in Chittagong Hill Tracts, there is an anger and dissatisfaction among the entire Jumma people. so I resigned to maintain my social commitments, Mr. Chakma added.

The Awami League activists of Jumma were expressed their regretful over burning effigy of Jyotindra Bodhipriya Santu Larma, the leader of Jumma people in Bangladesh by Awami League activists in Baghaichari.

Baghaichhari Upazila Awami League said that they will tender public apologize to the Jumma people for their shameful act
