Diphu January 18:  The Karbi Students’ Association (KSA) has demanded CBI inquiry on the Rs. 65 crores worth flour scam took place under LAMPS of Karbi Anglong since 2005. Mention may be that a total of 170 metric ton flour was sanctioned by the authority for Karbi Anglong. Sanjay Agarwal, Sawamarlal Swami and few others contractors are facing police enquiry right now. The KSA has claimed that the flour meant for Karbi Anglong were supplied to flour mills located at Manja and Kheroni locality directly from the FCI depote.“It can be calculated that a total amount of Rs. 65 crores is being swindled by the contractors since the flour was not dispersed among the people of Karbi Anglong since 2005. The flour is always dispatched by the Government but the contractors canalized the consignment to the black market,” the KSA leaders mentioned.

It can be mentioned that 14 trucks of flour were detained by them on December 27 at Kheroni lifted from FCI depot of Senchowa, Nagaon district; the trucks were on its way to the mill when they were seized. A case was registered at Diphu Police Station but till today no one has been arrested. The KSA has expressed apprehension that similar type of sleaze is possible if inquiry is conducted on rice and kerosene approved under LAMPS, and the ill-gotten money has been consumed by politicians and officials of Civil Supplies Department.
