DIYUN, MAY 24: In a release, AAPSU sought cancellation of Chakma-Hajong names from NEE results is misplaced and ill informed and has drawn profound criticism from the national Chakma organizations.
Claiming that a number of Chakmas and Hajongs have qualified for the NEE-2018 under Mizoram seats, the AAPSU apprised its director regarding the recent result of the NEE-2018 and said that they (Chakma and Hajong) must be replaced with eligible tribal applicants from the Mizo community.
Qualified Chakma and non-Chakma students from Mizoram
It is understood that AAPSU has vested interest with every damn thing concerning Chakmas of Arunachal Pradesh but targeting the meritorious Chakma students from Mizoram selected in NERIST is uncalled for defying any rationale.
Is AAPSU seeking cancellation of Chakma names from NEE results on behest of Mizo Students' Union? If it is so, it is illegal, immoral and inhumane too. On top of that it is against the very underlying principles of being a student's body.
In the past as well, AAPSU sought cancellation of selected Chakma candidates from Mizoram in Indian Army and other services. AAPSU demanding replacement of selected Chakma candidates with eligible tribal applicants from the Mizo community smells of propaganda and dictatorial favoritism.
AAPSU must not look at the Mizoram Chakma students from the prism of Arunachal Chakmas. Chakmas are a Schedule Tribe of Mizoram and the Chakma Autonomous District Council was formed under the Sixth schedule of the Constitution of India on 29 April 1972. Also Chakmas are scheduled tribe in Tripura and Assam too.
If all the students’ union around the country were to take such stand as AAPSU against a particular community, the world would be full of chaos and disorder.
