69th Republic Day celebrated in Diyun with pomp and gaiety


Diyun, Jan 26: The 69th Republic Day was celebrated today with pomp and gaiety across Diyun. Early in the morning, the atmosphere of Diyun is filled with the echo of “bharat mata ki jai” “vande mataram” and other patriotic slogans by the school children doing “Prabhat Pheri”.

The main event held at Diyun General Ground, after hoisting the Tricolor from the rostrum of, Diyun General Ground, Mr. Nikh Kamin, MLA, inspected the guard of honour during the ceremony.
Extending his greetings to the people of Diyun on the occasion, Kamin said Diyun is a Mini-India in respect of unity in diversity. There are different tribes living in peace and perfect harmony at Diyun and urged all to disallow divisive political forces trying to destroy the existing social fabric.

Mr. Kamin said that all the tribes of Diyun are equal in his eye as in the eye of law and god and therefore he does not discriminate Chakmas and Hajongs which was otherwise some years back.
He further reminded that we must renew our pledge for unity and national integrity of our nation on this occasion after hoisting the Tricolour in the presence of Extra Assistant Commissioner, Diyun Jacob Tabing & Commandant of 2nd IRBN.

A host of Head of Departments, PRI members, GBs/Headman, Public leaders and other dignitaries were also present there.
Cultural dance performances by different tribes including Chakma, Hajong, Ahom, Deori, Singpho, Nyishi, Galo, Gorkha and kindergarden children were the major attraction of the event.
